Fossils

Fossils are the impressions of creatures that lived millions of years ago. Their remains were covered in sediments which hardened off turning the impressions of the creatures to stone. This process took millions of years depending on the chemicals in the sediments, moisture and pressure from the weight of overlying rocks. Sea creatures fossilised more quickly than those on land but never the less the results were the same - fossils.
